So I’ve been in college for all of one week now (even though I’ve only had one day of classes, hehe). Um, yay?
It seems like every time I update, I have to mention my MacBook. Well, I wouldn’t have to keep mentioning it if things didn’t keep happening to it.
The good news: Haven’t had any random shutdowns since the last repair. I think they’re finally gone for good. The bad news: The hard drive failed on Wednesday, the day before classes started. Perfect timing. (I have a feeling those sudden shutdowns didn’t exactly work wonders for the drive.) Since it’s a user-replaceable part, though, I opted to just have a new one sent, which, according to the support technician, should have arrived no later than Friday, but according to the repair status page, has yet to be shipped out. And it’s already Sunday. Ngggh.
So I’ve been bumming off resource center computers and roommates’ laptops for the past couple of days. Not fun. And when the new hard drive arrives, I’ll probably spend a couple more days reinstalling and configuring crap, because I didn’t back anything up. Not going to be fun either.
On another subject… DC food is good. Really good. Which is not to say I won’t get sick of it at some point, but in the meantime… “freshman fifteen” is starting to sound a little conservative. Also, I need to remember that the DC closes an hour early on Friday and that it doesn’t open for late-night, so I don’t starve again. Also also, I need to buy some ramen, in case I do forget.
(Speaking of DC food, I have to mention the awesome hamburger I had for dinner last night. That thing was huge. Well, maybe not huge, but it was the size of every burger you see in those fast food commericals that are about 50% smaller in real life… except not 50% smaller. And it tasted better than any fast food burger I’ve had, too. Damn, that was a good burger.)
I need to get a bike soon; walking across campus kills. The cows aren’t that bad. Classes are all right. Professors seem okay. No math or science! Yesss! More than okay! And that’s all I have to say about that.
