Four Days

The MacBook came back yesterday! Total turnaround time: four days. Much better than the two weeks or so I had to endure last time.

At first, I thought they had sent me a brand-new MacBook, as the machine was oddly shiny and scratch-free, but it turns out they just replaced almost all of the casing. I have no idea how that might relate to my sudden shutdown issue, but it’s nice anyway. I can’t tell what else they replaced, though; the part codes on the service sheet are nigh indecipherable, and Google was no help.

Later on in the day, I noticed an unsightly bulge at the left end of the keyboard, causing the keys there to protrude above the recessed keyboard area. This worried me somewhat, until I disassembled the whole thing and determined that it was just the top casing (the part with the keyboard and trackpad on it) that was bent out of shape, and not a problem with anything on the actual logic board. After applying some pressure, I managed to reduce the bulge quite a bit (although it’s still slightly noticeable).

No sudden shutdowns or other serious problems, though. Then again, it’s only been a day. Knock on wood?
